Hi there!

We’re Matt and Lulana Heron.

As anglers ourselves, we understand what it’s like to go on vacation and search for the perfect guide. The last thing we want is to waste our vacation with a guide that doesn’t fit our skills and personality.

Having booked countless guides ourselves, we’ve learned what works and what doesn’t.

We’re now passing that knowledge on to our guests. We know many of you aren’t sure what to ask, but don’t worry, we’ll ask you!

About Matt Heron

Matt grew up catching trout and bass in the historic Adirondack Mountains on fly over 30 years ago, and not long after was chasing the huge trophy Steelhead, Browns and Salmon in the Great Lakes tributaries every fall and spring.

Matt’s love of the outdoors lead him to receive degrees in Aquaculture and Aquatic Science from the State University at Morrisville, and degrees in Recreation, Recreation Management, and Outdoor Education from the State University at Cortland. His college highlight was coordinating the largest trout habitat restoration project in the southern Adirondack Park.

His impressive background also includes…

– Graduate of the NOLS Fly Fishing and Backpacking Leadership course in Patagonia.

– Worked for Fly Fishers International in Livingston MT as the Angling and Aquatic Educator, then as the Anglers Against Weeds Coordinator. There he studied fly casting instruction with Montana’s only three, Master Certified Casting Instructors.

– Fly Fishers International Certified Casting Instructor since 2006.

– From 2007-2012 Matt worked, traveled and fished the country with the Fly Fishing Film Tour. The F3T is the number one entertainment event in the fishing industry.

– Matt co-hosted and helped organize the inaugural Sage on the Water Trout School at Sage Lodge in Montana.

– He proudly represents Sage, RIO Products, Simms and Costa Del Mar.

– He has fished extensively in the United States and throughout the world including Alaska, Bolivia, British Columbia, Hawaii, Bahamas, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Aruba, and Bonaire.

– Other Affiliations; Fly Fishers International & Trout Unlimited Life Member, FFI Guides Association,  TU Endorsed Business, American Fly Fishing Trade Association

Giving Back One Kid at a Time

Matt is also proud to be the Reno/Tahoe Reginal Director for Cast Hope. Cast Hope is a national 501(c)3 non profit dedicated to exposing at-risk and underserved youth to the outdoors through fly fishing.

Thank to our amazing donors, along with large and small scale fundraising events, we’re able to change the lives of these deserving children at no cost to them.

In 2023 alone, we’re on pace to impact 250 kids!
