Overview
To set expectations right off the bat, this is a trophy marlin trip to Magdalena Bay, Baja. Although there may be opportunities at times for Roosterfish, Dorado, Sea Bass, Halibut and other game species, the focus for 3.5 of the 4.5 days will be sight fishing in blue water for Striped Marlin on the fly!
This is prime season for marlin on the fly, low season for most of the other species that have made Baja famous in the fly angling community.
Sample Itinerary:
Day 1- Arrive in Cabo, transportation 2.5 hours to the first lodge, Palapas Ventana.
Day 2-Fish Sea of Cortez for Roosters, Jacks, Dorado, Golden Travely and Sierra Mackerel.
Day 3- Travel day to Magdalena Bay. This includes a 3.5 hour car ride and 30 min boat ride to the outpost camp. The camp is remote and rustic. This can not be understated enough. We are there for Marlin, not the accommodations.
Days 4-6- One hour runs to find baitballs and birds, sight fishing Striped Marlin.
Day 7- Half day of Marlin or species closer to the lodge. Travel back to Palapas Ventana in the afternoon.
Day 8- Shuttle to airport to catch connecting flight home.
