Fall Fly Fishing Is Here: Nevada Truckee River & Middle Fork Feather River Trips Now Booking
We’ve got some exciting news for fall, winter, and spring fly fishing in the Truckee and Lake Tahoe region.
With warm water temps in the rear view mirror, our Nevada Truckee River guide trips are starting now, including half-day and full-day walk-and-wade trips and float trips.
We’re also officially opening bookings for another great option just north of Truckee: guided trips on the Middle Fork of the Feather River.
That gives our guests two very different rivers, and a lot more opportunities to fish with us from fall all the way through spring.
Nevada Truckee River Fly Fishing Trips Are Back
This is one we’ve been waiting for.
After an entire a few moths of being away, we’re finally heading back to the Nevada side of the Truckee River.
Our Nevada Truckee River fly fishing trips are starting now and will continue through the fall, winter, and spring seasons.
We’re offering:
- Half and full day walk-and-wade trips
- Half and full day float trips
And fall is one of our favorite times of year to experience this section of river.

Fall Streamer Fishing on the Nevada Truckee River
As fall settles in and water temperatures cool, this can be an especially exciting time to float the Nevada side of the Truckee River and throw streamers.
The ability to cover miles of water from the boat lets us search deeper runs, banks, structure, and holding water that would be difficult to reach on foot.
And there’s always the possibility of connecting with one of the big brown trout the Truckee River is famous for.
For anglers who love active fishing, aggressive eats, and the possibility of encountering a truly exceptional brown trout, a fall streamer float on the Nevada Truckee is one of the trips we look forward to most each year.
The Nevada side also gives us miles of classic Truckee River water to explore as conditions change through fall, winter, and into spring.
For anglers visiting Truckee, Lake Tahoe, or Reno, this is a great opportunity to experience a completely different side of the Truckee River.

Now Booking Middle Fork Feather River Fly Fishing Trips
We’re also excited to announce that Middle Fork Feather River guide trips are now open for fall, winter, and spring bookings.
Located roughly 45 minutes north of Truckee, the Middle Fork Feather offers a completely different fly fishing experience.
Compared with the Nevada Truckee River, anglers can generally expect fewer people, good numbers of trout, and excellent opportunities for dry fly fishing.
The trout are typically smaller on average than what we target on the Nevada Truckee, but the Middle Fork can make up for that with action, beautiful water, and the opportunity to spend a day covering water without the crowds.
It’s also simply a really fun river to fish.
For anglers who enjoy fishing dries, staying on the move, and exploring a less-crowded fishery, the Middle Fork Feather is a great addition to our guided fishing program.

Middle Fork Feather River Trips Available Now
For fall and early winter, we are booking:
- Half and full day walk-and-wade trips
Then, beginning in January, we plan to add Middle Fork Feather River float trips to the schedule.
That will give our guests another completely different way to experience this river through the winter and into spring. Float trips on the Middle Fork tend to book quite quickly. Get on the books now!

Two Rivers. Two Completely Different Experiences.
One of the things we’re most excited about is being able to offer anglers more choices based on what they want out of their day.
Want to float the Nevada side of the Truckee River, throw streamers, and hunt for a big brown trout? Let’s do it.
Want a change of pace with fewer anglers, good numbers of trout, and great dry fly opportunities? The Middle Fork Feather may be exactly what you’re looking for.
And if you’re staying in Truckee or the Lake Tahoe area, both fisheries are within easy reach.
After more than 20 years of guiding the Truckee River and surrounding waters, we know how important options can be. Weather changes. Flows change. Hatches change. Fishing changes.
Having two rivers, plus walk-and-wade and float-trip options, gives us more opportunities to put together the right day for each angler.
Fall, Winter & Spring Reservations Are Now Open
This is the beginning of one of our favorite stretches of the fly fishing calendar.
Nevada Truckee River half-day and full-day walk-and-wade and float trips are now booking for fall, winter, and spring.
Middle Fork Feather River half-day and full-day walk-and-wade trips are also booking now, with float trips beginning in January.
If you’ve been waiting to get back on the Nevada side of the Truckee, want to spend a fall day throwing streamers from a drift boat, or want to explore the Middle Fork Feather for the first time, now is the time to get something on the calendar.
We’re excited to be back.
Come fish with us.
