Open Team Spots: 2026 Cast Hope Trinity River Steelhead Tournament
If you love steelhead fishing, great people, and supporting an organization that gets kids outside through fly fishing, we’ve got a few spots left for one of our favorite events of the year.
The 2026 Cast Hope Steelhead Tournament is coming back to the Trinity River December 10–13, and we currently have several open team spots available. These spots are hard to come by and will go fast!
This is three nights at Indian Creek Lodge, two full days of guided steelhead fishing on the Trinity River, great food, a little friendly competition, and a weekend surrounded by a bunch of like-minded, fishy people.
And most importantly, it all helps raise money for Cast Hope and our mission of introducing underserved and at-risk youth to fly fishing and the outdoors.

Two Days Chasing Trinity River Steelhead
December is a great time to be on the Trinity.
The tournament is timed around the arrival of the river’s winter steelhead, with anglers fishing both nymphing and swinging techniques. Swing-caught steelhead even receive additional weight in the tournament scoring.
The Trinity is one of those rivers where every cast carries a little anticipation.
You’re floating beautiful Northern California water, fishing with experienced guides and looking for a fish that can completely change your day in about three seconds.
There are also some great prizes on the line for the top three anglers and the biggest fish of the tournament.
But as much as we all want to catch steelhead, this weekend has always been about more than who catches the biggest fish.

What a steelhead from the 2025 trounament!
Come for the Steelhead. Help Us Get More Kids on the Water.
This tournament is one of the events that helps make the work we do at Cast Hope possible.
Cast Hope gives underserved and at-risk kids opportunities to experience fly fishing and the outdoors. It’s often kids who otherwise wouldn’t have access to the equipment, instruction, guides, or opportunities necessary to get started.
That makes this weekend pretty special.
You get to spend two days chasing one of the greatest freshwater gamefish around while knowing that your participation is helping us give another kid their first opportunity to pick up a fly rod.
And there’s something else about this tournament that keeps people coming back.
The people are awesome.
It’s a weekend full of anglers who love fishing, love talking fishing, enjoy a little friendly competition, and believe in what Cast Hope is doing.
We fish hard during the day, come back to Indian Creek Lodge, eat well, tell stories, laugh about the fish we landed—and probably exaggerate a little about the ones we lost.
That’s what this weekend is supposed to be.

Our hosts each year, Indian Creek Lodge!
